Greening the Treasure Island Music Festival

Hosting a festival at such a beautiful site reminds us all of the importance of minimizing our carbon footprint. We are working diligently to decrease our emissions, divert our waste, and offset our impact. Last year we were able to divert 72% (9.2 tons) of our waste to recycling and composting - the second highest diversion rate at any festival in the Bay Area. With your help we can do even better this year!

Reducing emissions

  • Bauer’s zero-emission buses will bring you from AT&T Park to Treasure Island in style. Their entire bus fleet utilizes advanced engine and after-treatment technologies and ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel to eliminate environmental impact.
  • Biodiesel generators – Fueled with B20, a mix of 20% biodiesel, 80% diesel, which reduces emissions of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide.
  • All ticket-buyers will be able to offset their CO2 emissions by opting to pay an extra $1 when they buy their tickets. All money collected in this way will go towards renewable energy and reforestation programs through Carbonfund.org.
  • Check out our comprehensive online guide to traveling to AT&T Park by foot, bike, BART, and MUNI.  Please utilize this guide to further reduce your own carbon footprint.

Solar Powered Stage

The Tunnel Stage will be completely powered by the sun. The solar panels on the roof of the stage will be collecting energy and using it to power all the equipment on stage, in a working-pumping example of a complete design. The stage itself carries a 4-kilowatt solar system, and by using solar power rather than a diesel generator or grid power, we will avoid emitting approximately 1,000 lbs per day (1.5 metric tons) of CO2 into the atmosphere. Thanks to our friends at Sustainable Waves for providing the solar stage. Check out the list of acts performing on the Tunnel Stage here.

Recycle Your Old Cel Phone

EHS Pilates In partnership with Phones 4 Charity and the American Red Cross have combined efforts to collect and recycle cell phones. Your donated cell phone will be refurbished and put to further use. Refurbished phones are sent to emerging countries and areas in the United States where there is a necessity for cell phones for both safety & communication. There are some parts of the world where technology is so precious that a cell phone can mean the difference between life and death. Please bring your old cell phones to the EHS Pilates booth.
